Approximately 2.9 million Americans are searching the Internet for health information every day.

Did you know that family physicians report an average of eight clinical questions a day that remain unanswered?

Do you know where to tell your patients to go on the Internet for complete, accurate and reliable information?

Have you ever needed information quickly? Information is relatively easy to find - as long as you know where to look.

Session One

The first type of workshop will be geared to health professionals who have had some experience with the Internet but need training in how to effectively use the Internet to find information for themselves and their patients.

• Use medical information search engines for the health professional.

• Where to tell your patient to go for medical information.

• What to tell the patient about trusting medical information on the Internet.

• How to find information you can use for your patients.

Session Two

The second type of workshop will be geared to the health professional who feels totally comfortable using the Internet but would like to know more about how to use resources including MEDLINE/PubMed, the National Library of Medicine literature database; article ordering; evidence-based medicine resources and University of Wisconsin databases.

• How to use MEDLINE/PubMed to search for medical literature and order articles

  from that literature.

• What is evidence-based medicine, how to find it on the Internet and how to use it.

• Where to find UW medical information databases and how to use them.
