Captioned Media Program (CMP)
The CMP (was Captioned Film and Video - CFV) program, sponsored by the U. S.
Department of Education, provides open-captioned films and videos for deaf and
hard of hearing. This site offers 4,000 free-loan open-captioned films and videos
along with captioning information and assistance. You can search the catalog by key
word and subject, register online for the service, order online, and view several
informational pamphlets in PDF files via the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Virtual Tour of the Ear
This extensive directory points users to Web sites related to audiology
and educational information about the ear. It includes three main sections:
- the ear as a hearing mechanism
- hearing disorders
- rehabilitation
The rehabilitation section includes many links to hearing aid and implant manufacturers as well as an education section listing schools for the deaf, related associations, and foundations.

Deaf Resource Library
This online collection of reference material and links is intended
to educate and inform people about Deaf cultures as well as deaf and
hard of hearing related topics. Anyone interested in this topic should
start here. Maintained by a doctoral student studying the anthropology
of deaf culture in Japan and the United States.

Well-done resource guide and more. Includes regular columns on living
deaf, current issues, and people. The Net Links section leads to
resources on cochlear implants, deaf studies, dictionaries, hearing aids,
tinnitus, etc.

The American Hyperacusis Association
A little known condition, hyperacusis is "the intolerance to everyday
sound levels in the presence of essentially normal hearing. In other
words, individuals experience discomfort and irritation or even pain
upon sound stimulation." This site features definitions and frequently
asked questions, research information and links, and a message board.
