Shy-Drager Syndrome is a progressive disorder of the central and autonomic nervous systems. The disorder is characterized by excessive dropping in blood pressure which can cause dizziness or momentary blackouts upon standing or sitting up. Shy-Drager Syndrome may be difficult to diagnose or may be misdiagnosed in the early stages because it may take years for some key symptoms to reveal themselves.

Multiple System Atrophy has three forms:
1. Shy-Drager Syndrome (SDS)
2. Sporadic Olivopontocerebellar Atrophy (OPCA)
3. Striatonigral Degeneration (SND)
